ENABLE US is all about providing a new platform within the University of Sheffield performance venues for creative exprression, exploration, development and debate, with public engagement and student experience as two of its cornerstones.
2Magpies Theatre return to Sheffield as part of a national tour with ‘Ventoux’, which played to sell out audiences at the Crucible Studio. The show is a restaging of the dramatic battle between Lance Armstrong and Marco Pantani on the slopes of the mountain from which the show takes its name, bringing the excitement of the Tour De France to the theatre.
Multi award winning theatre company / comedy collective The Pretend Men’ to the city with their production ‘Police Cops’. The show comes hot from the Soho Theatre in London and is playing the Drama Studio as part of a regional tour. Mixing ingenious comedy, an enormous amount of physical energy and every cliché in the book, the show will take you back to everything that was hilariously wrong with the TV/Film cop shows of the 70’s.
Manchester’s Hope Theatre bring us Gypsy Queen, directed by Adam Zane, a production that challenges us with themes of conflicts of identity, conflict, masculinity and love.
Full Circle Productions bring us ‘Outside the Box’, a show that asks us to embrace mortality and look on the bright side of life. You’ll never think of the funeral industry in the same way again!
There’s also some really sweet stuff for the littler ones. ‘Aleena’s Garden’ is a sensory adventure for 0-3 year olds and their grown
ups, a show that will delight you as much as them, and ‘The House at the Edge of the Universe’ a piece filled with physical theatre,
live music and lots and lots of cardboard boxes!
There’s pretty much something of everything and the best bit is that you can buy a ticket for the price of a pizza. We very much hope that you’ll be able to join us.
