The Drama Studio is an intimate theatre venue with stalls and circle seating over two floors. Sensitively converted from a Baptist church and still retaining many of its original architectural features, the Studio is a uniquely atmospheric space. With a clear playing area of 9m x 7m, the Studio is well suited to small-scale theatre productions but is also perfect for music and dance.
In addition to the main auditorium, the Drama Studio offers three rehearsal studios within the same building. Each of the rehearsal studios has large windows and high ceilings and can accommodate between 30 and 80 people. The Drama Studio is served by excellent transport links and the new 500-space Durham Road multi-storey car park.
Wheelchair users can gain access to the Drama Studio via the Shearwood Road entrance where a member of the Drama Studio staff can assist. This entrance is on the stalls level where there are 8 wheelchair spaces available. These spaces must be booked in advance as seating must be removed to make room. Also located on the stalls level is a unisex accessible toilet which works on a RADAR key. If you do not have a RADAR key you can acquire one from a member of the Front of House staff.
For patrons who have difficulty negotiating stairs, seats in the first to third rows of the stalls are preferable, as there are only 1 to 3 steps involved.
